Bath Mats

Bath Mat may be a Bath Rug which is a small rug outside a Bathtub for people to stand on while they are drying themselves after a Bath or Shower.
Bath Mats are soft, absorbent piece of fabric with or without backing used in bathroom.

Material:

  • Cotton Bath Mats: Cotton is the most common material used to make bath mats. Most common type being tufted bath mats where tufts are attached to base fabric sheet. Cotton bath mats are highly absorbent in nature.
  • Microfiber Bath Mats: Microfiber or Micro polyester is second most common material used to manufacture bath mats, bath mats made of microfiber have softer feeling than ones made of cotton and are able to dry a lot quicker than cotton ones.

Size:

  • Bath Mats come in various sizes with the most common sizes for mats alone being 50 x 80 cm and 53 x 86 cm however other lesser common sizes can be 60 x 90 cm and 60 x 100 cm.
  • Bath Mat Sets - Most common type of Bath Mat Sets have one rectangular Mat of size 50 x 80 cm and one Contour piece of size 50 x 50 cm. The other type of bath mat sets have 2 rectangular Mats usually of size 53 x 86 cm and 43 x 61 cm.

Backing: Bath Rugs are available with or without Backing. There are various type of backing options like Rubber Latex, Hot Melt and Spray Latex backing.

Construction:

Bath Rug can be Tufted or Woven. It may consist of Loop Pile, Cut Pile, mix of loop & Cut Pile and Flat woven.
Tufting Bath rug has been made from below machines.

 ·        Table Top Tufting - It is conventional machine for Tufting. This machine look like sewing machine and tufting has been done with the help of needles.  No. of needles on one machine varies from Single to 46 needles. This machine can produce Loop Pile, Mix of Cut and Loop Pile and Cut Pile Rugs. Also Single Side and Reversible Rug is possible on this machine.


 

·        Machine Tufting - It is basically Circular knitting machine which has been modified to produce tufted fabric.  Fabric which comes out of this machine has low weight face. So need to give some kind of backing to face fabric to give some weight and strengthen the final Product. For Bath rug, Latex Rubber backing has been given to knitted fabric.

 


·        Hand-loom Rugs -These Rugs are made on Traditional Hand-loom machine, which used to run by Hand. Various designs like Cut Pile, Chenille Loop and Pile and Flat woven are possible.  Usually Spray Latex or Hot Melt Latex backing used in this kind of Bath rug to give Anti Slip treatment.
